CELPIP Exam Eligibility
There are no eligibility requirements for the CELPIP test; all you need is a valid passport for registration. It is highly advisable to be well-prepared for the exam before proceeding with the registration process.
Types of CELPIP Exam
There are two types of CELPIP tests, CELPIP General and CELPIP General LS. The CELPIP General is recognized for University Admission and Permanent Residency applications globally, with a test duration of 3 hours covering four modules that are Reading, Listening, Writing and Speaking. Moreover, it is available worldwide.
On the other hand, the CELPIP General LS is accepted solely for citizenship applications and is limited to Canada. It has a shorter duration of 1 hour 10 minutes, focusing on two modules: Listening and Speaking. These two CELPIP tests provide different purposes and are distinguished by their scope and availability.
CELPIP Exam Pattern
The exam is divided into four sections: reading, writing, listening, and speaking with the test duration of 3 hours:
1. For the listening section, there are 38 questions spread across six parts, with an allotted time of 47-55 minutes:
- Part 1: Listening to Problem-Solving (8 questions)
- Part 2: Listening to a Daily Life Conversation (5 questions)
- Part 3: Listening for Information (6 questions)
- Part 4: Listening to a News Item (5 questions)
- Part 5: Listening to a Discussion (8 questions)
- Part 6: Listening to Viewpoints (6 questions)
2. For the reading section, there are four parts with a total of 38 questions, to be completed within 55-60 minutes
- Part 1: Reading Correspondence (11 questions)
- Part 2: Reading to Apply a Diagram (8 questions)
- Part 3: Reading for Information (9 questions)
- Part 4: Reading for Viewpoints (10 questions)
4. The speaking section comprises eight tasks, and candidates have 15-20 minutes to complete them:
- Task 1: Giving Advice
- Task 2: Talking about a Personal Experience
- Task 3: Describing a Scene
- Task 4: Making Predictions
- Task 5: Comparing and Persuading
- Task 6: Dealing with a Difficult Situation
- Task 7: Expressing Opinions
- Task 8: Describing an Unusual Situation
CELPIP Exam Registration
To register for the CELPIP General Test in India, you must complete the online registration process on the CELPIP website and make the necessary payment. The fee for the CELPIP General test in India is ₹14750/-, inclusive of GST. If you wish to obtain a hard copy of your score report, you can request it by paying additional charges, and the scorecard will be sent to your provided address. Payment for the examination fee can be made through various online methods, such as credit cards, debit cards, net banking, Paytm (wallet), and UPI. It’s worth noting that there is no need to worry about international activation, as the payment will be deducted in INR.
